Meteor - Operational Metering Summator
|
The METEOR Operational Metering Summator (OMS) unit is a microprocessor
based system designed to collect metering MWh and MVArh pulse
output information and produce real time power values.
The OMS system can be operated as an identical pair of units
connected together via a dedicated current loop interface. |
|
The first unit is a front end unit (OMS-FE) which collects meter
and frequency information from the site meters and two voltage
sources, it then passes this information to the second unit,
a processing end unit (OMS-PE) where summation calculations are
performed on the data to provide gross and net power readings
for the site and provides measurements of the actual grid frequency.
This data is calculated in real time and
provides instantaneous information concerning for example a power
station's contribution to the grid network.
Alternatively the OMS system can operate
as a single unit performing the same functions as the combined
two units. The unit can also store demand data which is collected
over the configured demand period.
The system supplies time tagged power
values via two RS232 links, analogue power values via a sixteen
channel DAC unit and contact closures via an eight channel relay
unit. The three types of output are all configurable by the user
via the 'personality'.
An OMS unit consists of a 4U high 19
inch steel chassis fitted with processor board, power supply,
timing board, DAC board, DAC power supply, transient suppression
board for supply inputs and watchdog relay contacts, meter input
panel and battery backup system. All I/O functions are controlled
by the processor board.

Meteor - Metering Data Outstation
The METEOR outstation is a micro-processor based unit designed
to collect metering information at remote sites and to transmit
the data and status information to a central data collection
unit on demand.
Communication is via dial-up modems on the Public Switched
Telephone Network (PSTN) or on a private CTN system. Local interrogation
facilities are also provided for site commissioning and for collecting
the data when telephone communication is unavailable.
The outstation unit consists of a 4U high 19 inch steel chassis
fitted with processor board, power supply, modem and associated
PSU, processor watchdog, meter input panel and battery backup
system.
16 and 32 input versions are available. For sites requiring
more than 32 inputs a number of outstations can be cascaded into
the master unit containing the modem. The slave units are not
equipped with modems
