Kenda wins £280,000 metering contract from National Grid
Southampton-based Kenda Electronic
Systems has been awarded a contract worth £280,000 by the National Grid Company
for supplying operational metering
summator (OMS) systems.
The OMS systems will be installed at 45 grid supply points
around the country to enable National Grid to obtain accurate real-time
values of the power being drawn from the network.
When compared with the power going into the network from the various
generating companies, this information will provide National Grid with
accurate measurements to allow tighter computerised modelling of the system,
thereby helping it to reduce operating costs.
Following a competitive tender, Kenda was awarded the contract not only
because of its long experience in producing metering summators but also
because it was best able to supply the equipment in the timescales required.
Deliveries will commence in September 1996.
