Kendata unveils new version of forms processing system
The highlight of the Kendata
stand at Headway 97 was a new version
of the AutoData PRO forms
processing system, which enables users
to design customised data-entry forms with popular Windows-based
packages such as Microsoft Word - thereby eliminating the
need to
spend time learning special forms design software.
This competitively priced system is ideal for a wide range
of
data-collection applications since it frees staff from the
burden
of having to enter large amounts of data via the keyboard.
With AutoData PRO, form layouts can incorporate not only barcodes
and check-mark boxes but also fields for typeface recognition,
image capture, key entry and even handprint recognition.
The system includes forms processing software, a choice of
desktop
scanners to suit users' requirements, and special TrueType
and
PostScript Type 1 fonts which enable Windows-based drawing
or
word-processing packages to reproduce elements such as barcodes,
check-mark boxes and hand-print zones.
Featuring a powerful recognition capability, AutoData PRO
can
handle ticks, crosses, lines or filled-in boxes in the check-mark
zones, and either proportional or fixed fonts in the typeface
recognition zones. Image-capture zones would typically be
used for
signatures, while key-entry zones are ideal for comment boxes.
Once the forms have been filled in, they are scanned, processed
and verified by the system; these operations can be carried
out
in either interactive or batch mode. Data is then exported
in
any one of the many popular file formats available, including
dbf, ASCII and ODBC. The system can be integrated with existing
database and spreadsheet software such as Access, Excel, SPSS
and Oracle.
